Jumla Dolpo Trek Traverse Kagmara-La Pass is one of the challenging yet best treks in western Nepal which allows the trekkers to explore the pristine areas of the beautiful country, including the turquoise Phoksundo Lake. The trek covers two of the most remote regions of Nepal, Jumla, and Dolpo, where the inhabitants have their own way of life, distinct from that of the world. This trek is a rewarding journey for anyone who is keen to explore unspoiled nature as well as the well-preserved culture of the Bon inhabitants.
Jumla Dolpo Trek Traverse Kagmara-La Pass offers the perfect blend of nature and culture from high passes to arid landscape to carefully preserved Bon culture. The journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, from where you fly to Nepalgunj, a thriving town in the lowlands of southern Nepal. The journey continues with a scenic flight to Jumla, which is the starting point of the trek. Trekking from the town of Jumla, the trail takes you to various small settlements in the Jumla district leading you to the higher trail from Hurikot to Kagmara La Pass (5115m). The top of Kagmara La Pass (5115m) offers a beautiful panorama of the Kanjirowa Himal range along with other snow-covered mountain ranges surrounding the pass. The trails below Kagmara La Pass (5115m) bring you to the arid yet picturesque terrain of Dolpo leading you to the deepest lake in Nepal, Phoksundo Lake, sitting peacefully amid the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Exploring the Tibetan villages of Dolpo, the trek continues to cross two more passes, Baga La (5182m) and Numa La (5190m), to reach the Tarap valley on the eastern side. The trails in Dolpo are dotted with many ancient monasteries as the people there still practice pre-Buddhist Bon religion. The trek comes to an end as you reach Juphal via Tarakot, giving you a memory to hold on for life.
